than to the town of Langley on Whidbey Island, WA.(2011-2018)
Worked 25 years in education, mainly administration, then 25 years
as psychotherapist and mediator.

PLEASE NOTE UPDATE 1-3-2022
My wife, Julie, passed away in 2017. I have since moved back to
Berkeley, CA. (primary residence) and Mendocino, CA (2ndary).
I remain active in both communities.
School Story:

Seems most of my closest friends through high school are now on the memory board. (So no one around to verify any of the stories I might tell.) I recall one time I signed into the wrong study hall under a false name to hang out w/ a new girl friend, Judy Allen. It went well since the study hall teacher didn't know me. But one day one of my regular teachers, Melvin Weiss, substituted in that period. He took role.(Almost nobody EVER took role in study hall.) He came to me and said, "You're not Dick Able" and reported me. I got 5 days detention back into that same study hall. Then the study hall teacher decided to take role in detention & got to me. She yelled "You're not Dick Jaulus" And I wound up with a great story.

Wayne State, then UC Berkeley and University of Pittsburgh
for graduate degrees.

That I actually always pay my bills in full and on time.

What did you do right after high school?

Went bowling

What do you do now? How did you get into that?

Work to stay out of the newspapers. And doctor's offices.


Currently, active in trying to form an Elder Village in Mendocino,CA.
I am a member and volunteer in Ashby Village in Berkeley, CA.

High points of your life since high school.

Went to the Seventy-fourth floor of Columbia Tower in Seattle.

Any vices?

Just trying to hold onto the ones I have.

Laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose?

I smile a lot. Or at least try to.
Mostl of the news today makes me want to hold my nose.

Where will you be in 10 years?

Hopefully in an upscale bar in the Pearl District in Portland;

sprinkled all over a community garden in Berkeley, CA.

I have moved back to Berleley (w/ a place in Mendocino as well)
so maybe we can despite Covid 19 constraints get together sometime

It was wonderful to see and chat with Lorraine at the 50th.

She reminded me that my father was her dad's attorney.

And I reminded her that her father was my doctor as I grew up.

We had quite a good chuckle over this. We agreed we both liked

Hampton somewhat better than Mumford. Another chuckle.

I feel a real loss of an old very special friend. Lorraine was certainly

a very fine lady. So glad I knew her even but briefly.
